Maine DOT has notified the town that the William Knight Road bridge over the Pleasant River is subject to a weight limit of 3 tons effective immediately.
The weight limit posting follows a Maine DOT inspection that identified structural deficiencies. Maine DOT did work on the bridge in the last year or two, but no structural issues were revealed until a routine inspection earlier this week.
No further information is available yet on Maine DOT's plans to repair or replace the bridge.
